Massage Therapy in Loveland

Massage therapy on backAt Back To Health Chiropractic, massage therapy is an important part of your health and wellness plan. It’s not just about relaxation—massage focuses on soft tissue mobilization to break up adhesions in muscles, improve body mechanics and function, and support your overall healing process.

Meet Emily: Your Massage Therapist

Emily is a Loveland native who graduated from Mountain View High School in 2010. After working as a CNA and EMT, she found her calling in massage therapy, graduating from IBMC in Fort Collins with her certification in 2012. While she’s worked in various spas and private practice settings, Emily prefers the healthcare environment where she can make a real difference in people’s recovery and wellness.

She specializes in deep tissue, neuromuscular technique, sports massage (pre-event, post-event, and rehab), injury rehabilitation, and trigger point therapy. Emily particularly loves working with athletes of all ages and has also spent time as a soccer coach. When she’s not helping patients, you’ll find her playing hockey, backcountry hiking, fly fishing, hunting, or enjoying her cabin near Walden. She’s also an adventurer at heart, having lived in Germany for a year and a half.

Understanding Deep Tissue vs. Deep Pressure

Many people request “deep tissue massage” without realizing what they’re truly asking for. There’s an important distinction: deep tissue massage is a specific therapeutic technique typically reserved for chronic conditions, while deep pressure refers to the amount of force used during any massage style. You can receive a Swedish massage with deep pressure that gets “in pretty deep” without the intensity of true deep tissue work. During your consultation, our massage therapists will help determine the most appropriate approach for your needs.

How Massage and Chiropractic Work Together

These two therapies create powerful synergy. Massage relaxes muscles and breaks down fibrous connective tissue that can make chiropractic adjustments difficult, helping adjustments go more smoothly and hold longer. Conversely, if a spinal misalignment is irritating a nerve, massage therapy alone won’t provide lasting relief—the chiropractic adjustment relieves the nerve irritation so the muscle can finally relax. Together, they address both structural and soft-tissue issues for optimal results.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your therapist will escort you to your private room to review your health history, current medications, and any conditions that might affect treatment planning. This conversation helps determine the best massage approach for you—considering factors like blood clot history, injuries, or muscle guarding. She’ll also assess your body’s response during treatment, adjusting techniques as needed.

We maintain strict draping policies, exposing only the area being worked on. After your session, take your time getting dressed, and be sure to hydrate well—we’ll provide water after your massage to get you started.

Investment in Your Wellness

Massage therapy is a cash-only service and is not covered by insurance. However, we offer affordable prepaid packages and massage memberships with discounts to make regular care accessible. Most maintenance clients come every two weeks to monthly, though acute injuries may benefit from weekly sessions for two to four weeks.
